AN ANIMATED ALLEGORY FOR INFORMATION MANAGEMENT
Below is an animated allegory of the Information Management process from project protocols to operations stage asset data in a CAFM system. It begins with the flat BIMScape which is subdivided by Golden Threads. Each plot represents a building rising out of BIMScape as defined in the BIM protocols.
Those buildings are then subdivided in to spaces, and those spaces host assets within, represented by the COBie schema column colours. The COBie data then migrates away from the BIM volume and inserts itself in to the NXUS logo CDE (Common Data Environment). The Golden Threads bind that COBie asset data and carry the building and asset data across the "NXUS" logo CDE to the "BIM" logo CAFM zone, representing the lifecycle of building and asset data.

NXUS BIM DATA PHILOSOPHY
BIM mandated projects present project teams with the challenge of realising a coherent model and document set that results in a constructable building.
The BIM process typically starts with a building owner's EIR protocol, which becomes the project specific protocol set, which defines the structure of the data set. At Practical Completion that data set is then handed over to the building owner thus satisfying the building owner's requirement.
NXUS BIM's involvement end-to-end with this process shaped our BIM data philosophy.
